Pages of Peace,
Voices of Change.
Meet the Peace Heroes is a children's book series created by Peace Museums to celebrate the lives of remarkable people who dedicated themselves to making the world a more peaceful place. Through vibrant illustrations and powerful, inspiring stories, these books introduce young readers to peacebuilders from all walks of life - people who stood up for kindness, justice, and understanding.
Each book shares a unique journey, showing how peace can be nurtured in many different ways: through education, activism, art, science, or simple acts of compassion. We believe that learning about these peace heroes will spark ideas in children and adults alike about what they can do to build peace in their own communities.
Because peace looks different to each of us. For one person, it might mean helping a friend; for another, it might mean standing up for fairness or protecting nature. But we all share the same goal - to create a more peaceful world, starting today.
So we ask you:
What can you do for peace today?
It could be a small act of kindness - or the beginning of a lifelong journey. Either way, peace starts with you!

meet the PEACE HERO:
Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori: Teaching Peace Through Education" is a beautifully illustrated children's book that tells the inspiring story of Maria Montessori, a pioneering educator who believed that true peace begins with the way we teach our children. At a time when girls were rarely encouraged to pursue higher education, Maria became one of Italy's first female doctors - and later created a revolutionary approach to learning that nurtured creativity, independence, and critical thinking.
Peace Museums Now!
Peace museums are a rare animal today, at a time when they are argu- ably needed most. The idea of a peace museum seems to many like an abstract concept: “What is a peace museum?”
I often get asked when I tell people about the project. Not only have most people never even been to a peace museum they have no idea what it means. Peace itself can be said to be similarly abstract and unfamiliar. Our museum promotes and teaches positive peace through the life and work of peace heroes, but in my mind we are all activists working to promote peace in the world. Every visitor and team member that we have, if they have the intent of peace, is working to bring about peace in the world in their own way. We seek to make peace familiar, tangible, and actual. What can you do for peace today?
